ANNUAL BARBARA SINATRA FASHION LUNCHEON A delicious luncheon and a beautiful fashion show have made the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center Luncheon, held during the Feb.22-24 Countrywide Frank Sinatra Invitational, one of the desert's most popular events. Part of the success of the luncheon held at the Renaissance Esmeralda in Indian Wells is the planning by a group of volunteers including Nelda Linsk, luncheon chairman, who has assumed this responsibility for the past 20 years. More than 800 men and women (the ladies were in the majority) attended this year's luncheon featuring the couture collection from Tosca Couture by Henry Schickerling available at Chantelle on El Paseo.
SAKS HOSTS TOSCA NEW YORK TRUNK SHOW
Saks Fifth Avenue in Utica Square will host a trunk show of Tosca Couture on Thursday and Friday featuring designer Henry Schickerling.
Henry Schickerling seems a bit tired of black.
"It gets a bit drab when you walk around in New York and everyone wears black," said Schickerling, the designer behind Tosca Couture, during a recent phone interview from New York.Perhaps that's why his spring collection brims with vibrant color in luxe European fabrics, which you can see for yourself when Schickerling comes to Tulsa this week.
Saks Fifth Avenue in Utica Square will host a trunk show of Tosca Couture on Thursday and Friday, during which time customers can meet the designer.A native of South Africa, Schickerling came to New York via London, Milan and Rome. A graduate of the Tailor & Cutter Academy of London, he worked in Italy as an assistant to Mila Schon and Pino Lancetti.
Once in New York, Schickerling met Marion Milenovic, a sales executive who worked at Oscar de la Renta for 18 years. Together, they opened Tosca Couture, a collection of glamorous special occasion and black tie gowns and cocktail dresses.
The key colors are rich and sumptuous -- champagne, raisin, navy and chocolate, said Jessica Penner at Saks. Custom bead work in jewel tones figure into the collection, as does ever-luxurious black.Fabrics are European re-embroidered lace, dreamy chiffons, figure-flattering taffetas and silk, Penner said, and the silhouettes are body-conscious.Tosca creates your own pattern for you, so the size is yours, not what the designer says is an 8, which is amazing," Penner said. "They can do any size and will measure you themselves in a private consultation."
